There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Chiefs never got to the one that mattered most. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They are betting Legette proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in the 50th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Xavier Legette at slot 53 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, DeWayne Carter at No. 100 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jarrian Jones in pick 132 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Marist Liufau in pick No. 161 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
