You could see the war room lean forward. Kyle McCord at Round 5, Pick 14 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Conerly Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jihaad Campbell at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Denzel Burke in slot 78 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Rylie Mills at pick 114 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Kyle McCord at Round 5, Pick 14 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
