Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Dolphins to leave a draft.
Hadden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every board in the league had Jefferson lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Xavier Worthy at the 56th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Brandon Dorlus in slot 92, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They read the board right and Mason McCormick was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 22. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They liked Jordan Jefferson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 174. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the 184th pick, with Kamal Hadden worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Cornelius Johnson in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick 216, where Joe Milton III graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Frank Gore Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 241. It fills a real need, too.
