The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jaylan Ford, Round 7, Pick 29, roughly 44 picks past where he belonged.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Eboigbe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Byron Murphy II at the 21st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Javon Baker at the 91st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Justin Eboigbe at pick No. 126, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy little value on Kitan Oladapo in No. 158, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
Tommy Eichenberg in slot 184 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Ro Torrence at Round 6, Pick 26 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Khristian Boyd at pick 219 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Ryan Flournoy all the way to Round 7, Pick 21, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 249 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
