The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Dolphins walked right past. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Mustapha falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Every board in the league had Orhorhoro lower, and that gap is the story.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Troy Fautanu at the 21st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Ruke Orhorhoro at Round 2, Pick 23 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Luke McCaffrey, who had no business lasting to pick 158. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Malik Mustapha higher than the 184th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Julian Pearl in No. 198, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Tayvion Robinson was the payoff at slot 241. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
