Nobody else had Jacob Parrish anywhere near No. 151. The Cardinals did, by 52 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They banked enough surplus on Johnson to cover a lot of smaller sins. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in Round 2, Pick 15, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Howard Cross III at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Tez Johnson was still sitting there in pick 131, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Jacob Parrish at the 151st pick, and the board is aghast. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
