You can hear the double-takes from here. The Browns took Garrett Dellinger at the Round 6 slot, roughly 91 spots before his name belonged. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

They banked enough surplus on Marks to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Josh Simmons · OT · rank 17
No drama and no debate, Josh Simmons went about where he belonged in No. 12. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · JT Tuimoloau · DE-EDGE · rank 49
They jumped the gun on JT Tuimoloau, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 55
By-the-book stuff, TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 57 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Demetrius Knight Jr. · LB · rank 59
Demetrius Knight Jr. slipping to slot 67 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · Jalen Milroe · QB · rank 95
A wild overpay on Jalen Milroe in the 74th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · Antwaun Powell-Ryland · DL-EDGE · rank 149
A big swing on Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick 90, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 87
Andrew Mukuba at the 94th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.36 · Pick 100 · Will Howard · QB · rank 103
Will Howard in pick 100 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.2 · Pick 103 · Nohl Williams · CB · rank 179
They reached into another round for Nohl Williams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 183
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Oronde Gadsden II. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.26 · Pick 165 · Nazir Stackhouse · DL · rank 194
Nazir Stackhouse at slot 165 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.3 · Pick 181 · Kyle Williams · WR · rank 197
Kyle Williams at the 181st overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Garrett Dellinger · OG · rank 281
They talked themselves into Garrett Dellinger at pick No. 190, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
R6.16 · Pick 194 · Chimere Dike · WR · rank 206
They paid a round early for Chimere Dike in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.26 · Pick 204 · Woody Marks · RB · rank 185
A running back of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 26 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.29 · Pick 207 · Jack Kiser · LB · rank 198
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Kiser at pick No. 207 is the proof. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R6.38 · Pick 216 · Kitan Crawford · S · rank 234
Kitan Crawford at No. 216 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.39 · Pick 217 · Zeek Biggers · DT · rank 227
A conviction pick on Zeek Biggers at slot 217 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.20 · Pick 238 · Gino Garcia · PK · rank 278
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Gino Garcia well ahead of where he belonged. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.39 · Pick 257 · Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson · OT · rank 277
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in the 257th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
