Cleveland Browns

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Browns: B-.

The Browns put a flag in the ground for Oronde Gadsden II, 80 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Getting Bryant where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.2 · Pick 2 · Abdul Carter · DE-EDGE · rank 3
Abdul Carter at No. 2 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · Jonah Savaiinaea · OT · rank 47
Jonah Savaiinaea at Round 2, Pick 1 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Jalen Milroe · QB · rank 95
Jalen Milroe at the 67th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 100
Cam Skattebo in the 94th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.2 · Pick 103 · Oronde Gadsden II · TE · rank 183
Value said wait; Oronde Gadsden II in slot 103 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
R5.26 · Pick 165 · Jay Higgins · LB · rank 182
A reach on Jay Higgins in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R6.3 · Pick 181 · Cam Jackson · DT · rank 220
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cam Jackson in the 181st overall pick, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.16 · Pick 194 · Kyle Williams · WR · rank 197
They took Kyle Williams at par in the 194th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.24 · Pick 202 · Cobee Bryant · CB · rank 177
The board fumbled Cobee Bryant all the way to pick No. 202, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.38 · Pick 216 · Chimere Dike · WR · rank 206
Chimere Dike in slot 216 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.39 · Pick 217 · Teddye Buchanan · LB · rank 232
A conviction pick on Teddye Buchanan at Round 6, Pick 39 that the board grades a round light. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.39 · Pick 257 · Joe Huber · OG · rank 318
A wild overpay on Joe Huber in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
