Chicago Bears

Hurst should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Bears did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Getting Hurst where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Fa'amoe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.27 · Pick 59 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 49
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 27, with Lee Hunter worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · A.J. Haulcy · S · rank 50
They read the board right and A.J. Haulcy was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Chase Bisontis · OG · rank 53
Chase Bisontis slipping to No. 62 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Connor Lew · C · rank 84
Nothing to complain about; Connor Lew went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Devin Moore · CB · rank 94
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Devin Moore at the 106th overall pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Ted Hurst · WR · rank 89
You do not let a wide receiver like Ted Hurst reach the 108th pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Darrell Jackson Jr. · DT · rank 106
Darrell Jackson Jr. in the 113th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Justin Joly · TE · rank 122
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Justin Joly. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R5.30 · Pick 170 · Demond Claiborne · RB · rank 164
A reasonable price with a little left over, Demond Claiborne in pick 170. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Aiden Fisher · LB · rank 239
They took Aiden Fisher at par in No. 239, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Fa'alili Fa'amoe · OT · rank 256
The board had cheaper options than Fa'alili Fa'amoe at pick No. 241, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.40 · Pick 256 · Andre Fuller · CB · rank 243
Value with a capital V on Andre Fuller in the 256th pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
