The Patriots went off the board in a big way for Maliq Carr, 55 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Campbell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Travis Hunter in No. 3, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Will Campbell in pick 41 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Malachi Moore in pick No. 72 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaeden Roberts at the 86th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Dontay Corleone at slot 108, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Benjamin Morrison at Round 5, Pick 6 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Gabe Jacas at the 218th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Amari Kight in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Logan Parr in pick 236 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached a country mile for Maliq Carr at No. 256, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
