The rest of the league will want that one back. Nathan Thomas tumbling to the Eagles in the 240th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Okie-Anoma has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 50 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Javon Bullard at pick 53, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Trey Benson in slot 97 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Luke McCaffrey at par in the 160th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
AJ Barner slipping to Round 5, Pick 34 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Nick Gargiulo at pick No. 178 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jha'Quan Jackson in the 189th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Eyabi Okie-Anoma this early at pick 233. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Nathan Thomas at the 240th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
