The Cardinals looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Ricky White III at slot 151 regardless, 45 picks early. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value.
A premium they did not need to pay, Marcus Mbow a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dillon Gabriel at the 78th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Rylie Mills in slot 113, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ricky White III in the 151st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
