The Eric Gregory selection is the head-turner. The Vikings reached 32 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They banked enough surplus on Mukuba to cover a lot of smaller sins. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Andrew Mukuba in No. 97 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Raheim Sanders at the 140th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Joshua Gray in pick No. 161 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Eric Gregory at Round 7, Pick 33 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
