The Bills did not so much draft Harold Perkins Jr. as overpay for him, 41 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Casey steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Harold Perkins Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Tyreak Sapp at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zxavian Harris. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and Kage Casey was the payoff at pick No. 168. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nyjalik Kelly at Round 6, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Xavier Nwankpa a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
