Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kaytron Allen got past him. The Chiefs do not have to explain a thing at Round 5, Pick 29.
The cost of the Moore reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
Kayden McDonald at pick No. 29 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, Chris Bell went about where he belonged in the 40th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Max Klare in the 74th pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Skyler Bell still on the board at No. 109. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Louis Moore in Round 5, Pick 8 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They will replay Kaytron Allen at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Ephesians Prysock at pick 176 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Wright at pick No. 210 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
