The Colts went off the board in a big way for Tacario Davis, 30 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They banked enough surplus on Allen to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
CJ Allen slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A big swing on Tacario Davis at No. 78, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No drama and no debate, Max Llewellyn went about where he belonged in pick 149. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They went early on Reggie Virgil in pick No. 156, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in the 249th overall pick: Trey Zuhn III for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jack Kelly in slot 254 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
