The Dolphins torched the value chart for Jackson Powers-Johnson, taking him 23 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 29 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 58th overall pick with a little surplus value in Ja'Tavion Sanders. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
DeWayne Carter in Round 3, Pick 35 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at the 126th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in slot 131 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Justin Rogers at par in the 158th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
