The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Rams watched Cade Klubnik slide 93 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Gumbs Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Zachariah Branch went about where he belonged in pick 61. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Michael Taaffe in the 83rd overall pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalon Kilgore. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Cade Klubnik at No. 232 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A premium they did not need to pay, George Gumbs Jr. a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
