The tape said wait; the Saints did not. Thaddeus Dixon went at pick 190, a good 38 picks before the board was ready. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Carnell Tate at pick 8 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with CJ Allen worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Lee Hunter in No. 73 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Parker Brailsford at the 132nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Will Lee III slipping to the 136th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Trey Moore in slot 150 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ar'maj Reed-Adams in the 172nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Thaddeus Dixon in Round 6, Pick 9 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
