Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Saints will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Boerkircher value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Carnell Tate in pick No. 8 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, R Mason Thomas at Round 2, Pick 10. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Deontae Lawson in the 73rd pick, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Hezekiah Masses. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on CJ Daniels at pick 136, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Tim Keenan III in No. 150; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Nate Boerkircher higher than the Round 5 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
DJ Campbell in slot 190 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
