The rest of the league had time to spare on Keylan Rutledge; the Texans did not wait, grabbing him 45 spots ahead at the 69th pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Joly value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Job largely done: running back settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Blake Miller at pick 28 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Christen Miller at pick No. 38 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Jonah Coleman in No. 59; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Keylan Rutledge in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Brian Parker II at par in the 106th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Justin Joly at Round 5, Pick 1 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A premium they did not need to pay, Trey Moore a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Vinny Anthony II went about where he belonged in the 243rd overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
