Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Giants spent the Round 6 slot on Nathaniel Watson, a name the board had a full 29 spots lower.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took DeJean. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper DeJean in Round 2, Pick 15 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Jaylen Wright went about where he belonged in the 70th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tyler Davis in pick 107 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaheim Bell in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Nathaniel Watson at the 183rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
