Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Packers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Omeire proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Jones value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 21 they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jordan Morgan at No. 25 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Roman Wilson at the 88th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Bucky Irving in pick 91, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A clean, defensible pick in the 125th pick with a little surplus value in Kris Abrams-Draine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Cedric Gray, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Christian Jones in the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Darius Muasau in Round 6, Pick 42 is fair value, right on his grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
No edge and no loss on Steele Chambers in pick 219; it is a wash and a sensible one. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Troy Omeire at the 246th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
