Somebody in the Round 4 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Jake Golday, the No. 64 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Arvell Reese at Round 1, Pick 5 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No edge and no loss on Omar Cooper Jr. in No. 37; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let an edge rusher like Jake Golday reach the 105th pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dametrious Crownover in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Tanner Koziol at the 186th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Anez Cooper at pick 192 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Reggie Virgil in pick No. 193 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
