Boards are made to be trusted, and the Jets shredded theirs for Garrett Nussmeier. He came off 48 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Lew. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 16 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A real need, handled.
Value said wait; Garrett Nussmeier in pick 33 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Anthony Hill Jr. in pick No. 44, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They robbed the room for Connor Lew here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Will Lee III in the 140th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nate Boerkircher at the 179th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Fair-plus on Chase Roberts, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Nwokobia at Round 7, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
