If confidence were a draft strategy, the Titans would have aced it. Patrick Payton at the Round 6 slot is 74 spots clear of where he belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Allen at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a lead back with juice at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
CJ Allen in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Antonio Williams in the 66th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Davison Igbinosun at pick 101 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They read the board right and Joe Royer was the payoff at pick No. 142. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nadame Tucker at slot 144 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, Patrick Payton in the 184th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cyrus Allen in slot 194 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nothing to complain about; Bobby Jamison-Travis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
