Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Devin Neal got past him. The Chiefs do not have to explain a thing at Round 4, Pick 30.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Nelson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

In the 31st overall pick they get a ballhawk on the back end, and a steal at that.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 63 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Tyler Warren at the 66th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jack Nelson this early at pick 95. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Devin Neal at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
