They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jackson. They will need Reiman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A conviction pick on Kris Jenkins at pick 36 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 40, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Blake Corum in No. 67, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Khyree Jackson slipping to Round 4, Pick 1 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zak Zinter in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kalen King at the 138th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Tip Reiman in slot 197 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Jha'Quan Jackson was still sitting there in pick 220, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Eyabi Okie-Anoma at pick No. 238, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
