After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. J.J. McCarthy is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They are betting Watson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Donovan Wilson deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Xavier Worthy at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Renardo Green in slot 70 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brenden Rice. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Javon Foster at pick 107 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A conviction pick on Isaac Guerendo at Round 4, Pick 14 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Jaylin Simpson in No. 141 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for Nathaniel Watson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
