You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Chiefs did exactly that with Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in pick No. 132.
The Knight Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Deone Walker at par in pick No. 63, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Circle this one: T.J. Sanders at the 66th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 95th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A wild overpay on Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in slot 132, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at Round 7, Pick 40 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
