The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cowboys were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
The Nugent reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Cowboys clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

In slot 24 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in the 56th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had cheaper options than Audric Estime at pick No. 87, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They talked themselves into Drake Nugent at Round 4, Pick 24, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Grayson Murphy in No. 174 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A conviction pick on Dwight McGlothern at the 245th pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
