You can draft well and still miss the point. The Packers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 51 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jay Higgins. A minor itch, scratched.
Aireontae Ersery in No. 115 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Damien Martinez in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Noah Daniels at the 179th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Jalen Catalon at par in the 211th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
