When a board-topper like Jake Slaughter slides to Round 4, Pick 4, you do not overthink it, and the Cardinals did not.
They will need Crawford to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at Round 2, Pick 15 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Keyron Crawford in pick No. 65 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Chase Bisontis in pick 78 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Jake Slaughter at the 104th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Chris McClellan at the 143rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in slot 189, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Josh Cameron here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Le'Veon Moss in Round 7, Pick 5, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
