Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Giants never addressed safety, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
That Moore pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get a three-down second-level presence. Need was not the driver here.
In No. 10 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Peter Woods in slot 37 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Devin Moore in pick 105. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Dametrious Crownover in the 145th pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Anez Cooper in pick No. 186, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy little value on Zane Durant in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Red Murdock went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 12. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
