The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaishawn Barham tumbling to the Packers in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Hamilton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kenneth Grant. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jalon Walker in pick No. 54 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Denzel Burke in Round 3, Pick 23 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Elic Ayomanor at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Chris Paul Jr. at the 158th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A conviction pick on Ty Hamilton at No. 196 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Jared Wilson at the 237th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 250 is the definition of value, full stop. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
