Thirty-one other rooms let Malik Washington slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at the 160th overall pick. Highway robbery.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The McClellan reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Dallas Turner at the 22nd pick is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Edgerrin Cooper higher than Round 2, Pick 18, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They robbed the room for Calen Bullock here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Malik Washington still on the board at pick No. 160. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 170 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jase McClellan in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Johnny Wilson was still sitting there in slot 189, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Elijah Jones in the 240th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
