The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tahj Washington, the No. 192 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Kinchens has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Nate Wiggins in pick 22 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
A big swing on Kamren Kinchens at Round 2, Pick 21, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
They took Trey Benson at par in the 97th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Luke McCaffrey at slot 160 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Kalen King in pick No. 170, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Roger Rosengarten was still sitting there in No. 171, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Anthony Gould at the 189th pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Tahj Washington all the way to Round 7, Pick 20, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
