Somebody in the 178th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Tyrone Tracy Jr., the No. 122 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The Gargiulo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 59
They paid a round early for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 2, Pick 18, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 60
Javon Bullard in pick 53 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 102
Audric Estime in slot 97 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 165
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luke McCaffrey. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.34 · Pick 170 · Nick Gargiulo · C · rank 202
They reached a country mile for Nick Gargiulo at pick No. 170, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Braiden McGregor · DE-EDGE · rank 173
No drama and no debate, Braiden McGregor went about where he belonged in the 171st overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Tyrone Tracy Jr. · WR · rank 122
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the 178th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 147
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Tykee Smith in pick 189, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.20 · Pick 240 · Andrew Raym · C · rank 235
A tidy little value on Andrew Raym in the Round 7 slot, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
