The Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 132 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. They banked enough surplus on Carter to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Deone Walker at No. 63, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Shemar Turner at Round 3, Pick 2 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Barrett Carter is a better player than slot 95 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in pick 132 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jimmy Horn Jr. in the 256th overall pick, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
