There is conviction, and then there is this. The Commanders took Oscar Delp a full 23 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Moore falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Mykel Williams in slot 48 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Josh Conerly Jr. in No. 62 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Smael Mondon Jr.. A minor itch, scratched.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Oscar Delp. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A quiet steal in the 124th overall pick: Malachi Moore for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They went early on CJ Daniels in Round 6, Pick 4, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
