They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Simpson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Bo Nix at pick 27 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kris Jenkins in the 42nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Jonathon Brooks in No. 50, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 59, where Jermaine Burton graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Jaden Hicks in Round 4, Pick 8; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Beaux Limmer at slot 130 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Braelon Allen at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jaylin Simpson at the 160th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jordan Jefferson in pick 165 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Fair-plus on Curtis Jacobs, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Joshua Cephus at the 230th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
