There is a lot to like until you notice safety is still a hole. The Vikings never got to the one that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Getting Booker where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They are betting Logue proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Isiah Pacheco pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kalen King. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They liked Beaux Limmer enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 30. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nothing to complain about; Javion Cohen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Joe Milton III in pick No. 160 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Austin Booker slipping to slot 165 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Michael Barrett at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Williams at the 187th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid up for Zion Logue at slot 230 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
