The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
With safety and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They will need Hall to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
A straight-up fair deal on J.J. McCarthy at Round 2, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Ray Davis in the 108th pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Jarrian Jones while clear needs at safety and tight end sat open.
A tidy little value on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in pick No. 148, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Austin Booker in slot 160 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Layden Robinson at par in pick 165, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Gabe Hall at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Dylan McMahon in the 230th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
