The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Caleb Williams, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Nubin falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Amarius Mims slipping to the 36th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Keon Coleman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Nubin still on the board at slot 67. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Payton Wilson in No. 100, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Christian Mahogany in Round 4, Pick 2 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A edge rusher of that caliber at pick No. 103 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Johnny Dixon in pick 141 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Ben Sinnott in the 181st overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jordan Magee at slot 223 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
