This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kamren Kinchens, the No. 34 name on the board, stolen at No. 78. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Giants paired the rookies with proven help, Garrett Bradbury leading the way.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in No. 39. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Worthy in pick No. 42, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land Tyler Guyton in slot 47, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Kamren Kinchens all the way to pick 78, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Blake Fisher in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on DeWayne Carter in the 118th pick, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cedric Gray slipping to Round 5, Pick 7 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They barely believed it either: Jaheim Bell still on the board at slot 160. It fills a real need, too.
