The real work happened on the phones. The Giants fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. Drew Dalman gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in pick No. 39, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Chop Robinson at Round 2, Pick 11 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The roster fit checks out.
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 47 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in the 70th overall pick, where Edgerrin Cooper graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They did well to land Dominick Puni in slot 107, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Jaheim Bell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Miyan Williams in the 185th pick, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
