The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Reaching for Melton left real value on the table behind him. The Mike Evans pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a security blanket over the middle. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in pick 37; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Tyler Guyton at par in the 47th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Roman Wilson in pick No. 105 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach on Max Melton in slot 106; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
James Williams slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 6 is lovely value for the safety. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid up for Miyan Williams at the 183rd overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
