The Giants lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The cost of the Sweat reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Irving value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Keon Coleman in pick 39. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Graham Barton, who had no business lasting to the 43rd overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 16 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Adisa Isaac went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Edgerrin Cooper is a better player than pick No. 74 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Cooper Beebe in No. 107 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Bucky Irving in slot 110, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Beau Brade in the 114th overall pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Kamal Hadden come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
AJ Barner at slot 185 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
