Thirty-one other rooms let Ty'Ron Hopper slide, and the Giants were the ones holding the card at pick 185. Highway robbery. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick 21 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Nubin at pick No. 39 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chop Robinson at the 47th pick. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Graham Barton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 12, with Jeremiah Trotter Jr. worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reasonable price with a little left over, DeWayne Carter in No. 107. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Dillon Johnson in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jaheim Bell in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 6, Pick 10 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
