The pick that carries the class is Jamari Thrash, a wide receiver the Vikings were happy to stop sliding in Round 4, Pick 8. Patience, rewarded. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Limmer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at No. 60 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. It fills a real need, too.
A slide stopped in the 108th overall pick, with Jamari Thrash worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Max Melton at par in slot 111, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid up for Beaux Limmer at pick No. 130 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javion Cohen in the 148th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Chau Smith-Wade in No. 160 is fair value, right on his grade. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Kitan Oladapo at pick 166 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylan Ford at Round 6, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Kedon Slovis at slot 230 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Donovan Jennings in the Round 7 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
